Abdulaziz Saud Albabtain Cultural Foundation, in collaboration with Sawt Al-Arab Radio Station from Cairo, announces the names of the winners of the 5th season's poetry competition.

Abdulaziz Saud Albabtain Cultural Foundation announced the results of its poetry competition, held in collaboration with Sawt Al-Arab Radio in Cairo, in its fifth season in 2018. The poet Khaled Abdulrahman Hassan from Iraq secured the first place with his poem titled "Moon of the Upper Egypt," winning a prize of six thousand US dollars. The second place was awarded to the poet Ebaa Moustafa Al-Khatib from Syria for her poem "Al-Khansa Finally Mourns Her Four Sons, Maybe Forty, or Maybe..." with a prize of three thousand US dollars. The third place went to the poet Selini Ghania from Algeria for her poem "The Last Platform," winning a prize of one thousand five hundred US dollars. The poet Yas Jiyad Zawid Al-Fahdawi from Iraq ranked fourth with his poem "Memory of the Grapes," receiving a reward of seven hundred and fifty dollars.
The judging panel included the Dean of the College of Arts at Kuwait University, Dr. Suad Abdulwahab, who chaired the committee, along with Dr. Abdelrahman Tankoul from Morocco and Dr. Ziyad Abu Laban from Jordan.
The poet Abdulaziz Saud Albabtain, the Chairman of the Foundation, stated that for the past five years, the Foundation has been organizing a poetry competition, usually announced during the holy month of Ramadan in collaboration with Sawt Al-Arab Radio in Cairo, with the results announced in early November. He emphasized that this esteemed radio station shares the same objectives as the Foundation in promoting the Arabic language and enhancing the status of Arab poetry.
Albabtain extended his congratulations to the winners of the fifth season, praising the judging committee for its use of scientific criteria in selecting the winners.
The number of participants in this season reached 194 contestants from various Arab countries.
