December 16, 2024

The activities of the Abdulaziz Saud Albabtain Cultural Foundation continue in its 19th edition, titled "The Abdulaziz Saud Albabtain Session." On the second day, the first literary session about the late poet Abdulaziz Saud Albabtain was held, featuring speakers A. Dr. Abdullah Al-Tatawi from Egypt, Dr. Ziyad Al-Zou’bi from Jordan, with the session expertly chaired by Dr. Nouriya Al-Roumi from Kuwait.

Dr. Al-Roumi stated that since its establishment, the Abdulaziz Saud Albabtain Foundation has successfully united poets, thinkers, and scholars in a shared love that many have failed to achieve. This is because culture is the soft power that liberates us from our harsh realities. The Foundation has become our annual refuge through its activities and poetry sessions. She added, "On behalf of all of you and myself, allow me to extend my deepest gratitude to the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Abdulaziz Saud Albabtain Foundation, the Board of Trustees, and all the dedicated staff for their tireless efforts and annual contributions, continuing even after the passing of its founder, the late Abdulaziz Saud Albabtain." Dr. Al-Roumi then mentioned, "It is an honor for me to chair this session. As for Dr. Abdullah Al-Tatawi, former Vice President of Cairo University, his paper titled "Vision and Theme’s Perspectives in the Poetry of Abdulaziz Saud Albabtain" began with an introduction that highlighted the importance, references, methodology, and sources of the topic. The paper then explored the poet’s division of vision and thematic subjects, with the first section focusing on the poet’s stance between intellectual heritage and cognitive dimensions, along with intersections of creative movements. The second section examined the poet’s thematic perspectives, beginning with the key elements of his Bedouin identity, moving through national and cultural identity, and culminating in the major shared elements between tradition and modernity in Albabtain’s poetic formation. The paper concluded with an exploration of Albabtain’s creative and intellectual framework from a broader, human perspective.

Dr. Al-Tatawi emphasized, "The door remains open for critical readings that are deserving of his poetic collections through various critical perspectives that align with the rich, evolving artistic creativity of Abdulaziz Saud Albabtain."

Dr. Ziyad Al-Zou’bi presented a paper titled "The Artistic Imagery in the Poetry of Abdulaziz Saud Albabtain," analyzing and presenting the artistic imagery in the poetry of the late Abdulaziz Saud Albabtain based on his three published poetry collections: "Bawh Al-Bawadi," (Intimations of the Deserts) "Musafir Fi Al-Qifar," (Wastefarer) and "Oghaniyat Al-Fayafi" (Songs of the Deserts).

In his research paper, Dr. Ziyad Al-Zou’bi examined the extensive use of metaphorical language in the poetry of Abdulaziz Saud Albabtain, which primarily relies on personification that endows abstract concepts or objects with the qualities of living beings, making them visually present. He emphasized that this is a distinctive feature in rhetorical studies, regardless of the language or era.

Al-Zou’bi outlined the metaphorical structures in Abdulaziz Albabtain’s three poetry collections, focusing on active metaphor, additional metaphor, and descriptive structures.

Dr. Zou’bi added, "Specifically, the image in terms of its structural composition, particularly in its metaphorical and simile use, highlighted the quantitative aspect of these two artistic forms, representing the significant presence of sensory imagery in Abdulaziz Albabtain’s poetry."
