The Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Award for Arabic Poetry honored the poet Abdulaziz Saud Albabtain.

HRH Prince Khalid Al-Faisal, the Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, the Governor of Makkah Province, and the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Arabic Poetry Academy, crowned the winners of the 2022 Abdullah Al-Faisal Award for Arabic Poetry in its fourth season on the evening of December 14th. The award ceremony took place at the "Superdome" in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. During the event, poet Abdulaziz Saud Albabtain, who won the award for the best performed poem for his poem "I Will Not Forsake You," was honored. The performance of the poem was rendered by the artist Walaa Al-Jundi during the award ceremony.

The sung poem "I Will Not Forsake You" garnered over 3 million views on YouTube and achieved the thirteenth place in the trending music content in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the same platform. Moreover, it won an award that is among the most prestigious literary prizes in the Arab world. Winning this award is a cause for pride, especially as it bears the name of a distinguished poet in the Arab world, the literary poet Abdullah Al-Faisal, may he rest in peace.

On this occasion, the poet Abdulaziz Saud Albabtain, the winner of the Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Award for Arab Poetry for the Best Sung Poem, mentioned the significance of the award from several angles. Firstly, it is an international award organized by the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which holds significant cultural weight on the international stage. Additionally, the award is under the patronage of His Royal Highness, the poet Prince Khalid Al-Faisal, and carries the name of the literary prince, Abdullah Al-Faisal, may he rest in peace. This adds to its substantial local and international prestige. The award also has cultural objectives that reflect its impact on the Arab and global literary and cultural scene.

Albabtain added that the category of sung poetry encourages poets to showcase the beauty of classical Arabic language in song lyrics. This restores its cultural and melodious significance to the ears of everyone and achieves the primary goal of strengthening Arab identity and highlighting the importance of the Arabic language for current and future generations.

It is noteworthy that the Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Award for Arab Poetry is a literary award with Saudi origins and a global Arab focus and direction. Its aim is to recognize distinguished Arab male and female creators in the field of classical Arabic poetry, this which possess an authentic structure and offer innovative thought and vision. The award was initiated by Prince Khalid Al-Faisal through Taif University, represented by the Arab Poetry Academy. Over the past years, the award has achieved unparalleled success. In its first season, there were 47 entries, followed by 90 entries in the second season, 139 entries in the third season, and in the fourth season, there were 323 entries from 21 countries.
