The establishment of the "Abdulaziz Saud Albabtain Chair for Peace" at the University of Malta.

In the context of the keenness of His Excellency the President of the Republic of Malta, Dr. George Vella, and the poet Abdulaziz Saud Albabtain, President of the Board of Trustees of the Abdulaziz Saud Albabtain Cultural Foundation, on developing collaborative relationships with institutions, organizations, research centers, regional and international universities, Abdulaziz Saud Albabtain Cultural Foundation has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the University of Malta through its Center for the Study and Practice of Conflict Resolution, to establish the "Abdulaziz Saud Albabtain Chair for Peace" at the University of Malta; an initiative that aims to promote and teach the culture of peace.
This comes as part of the endeavor of the Chairman of the Abdulaziz Saud Albabtain Cultural Foundation, Mr. Abdulaziz Saud Albabtain, to disseminate a culture of just peace around the world and establish the foundations for peaceful coexistence among nations. The Foundation has previously established various academic centers and chairs at universities in several countries, including England, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, and others, aimed at promoting the principles of peace.
The activities of the chair include the following:
A- A scholarship for one student to enroll in the Master's program in Conflict Resolution and Mediterranean Security at the university. This program is offered in collaboration with George Mason University in the United States. Successful candidates will be awarded a Master's degree in Conflict Resolution and Mediterranean Security from the University of Malta, as well as a Master's degree in Conflict Analysis and Resolution from George Mason University.
B- Organizing an annual academic seminar titled "Building a Culture of Just Peace," bringing together academic experts and international stakeholders to discuss issues related to peacebuilding from various perspectives.
C- Holding an annual lecture by the Abdulaziz Saud Albabtain Cultural Foundation on the topic of peace, under the patronage of the President of the Republic of Malta and the Presidential Office. The lecture will be delivered by a prominent researcher or politician actively engaged in promoting a culture of peace, justice, and human rights.
D- An academic exchange program to provide support for a lecturer from the University of Malta to visit Kuwait University and other universities in the Arab world. During the visit, the lecturer will conduct research and deliver lectures on peace-related issues for a period of 4 to 5 days. Similarly, a lecturer from Kuwait or another Arab country will have the opportunity to visit the University of Malta.
The University will manage the activities of the Chair through its Center for the Study and Practice of Conflict Resolution. The Chair's activities are scheduled to commence during the academic year 2021-2022.
On his part, the Chairman of the Abdulaziz Saud Albabtain Cultural Foundation, the poet Abdulaziz Saud Albabtain, stated on this occasion: "The establishment of the Abdulaziz Saud Albabtain Chair for Peace at the University of Malta is a necessary step towards instilling and advancing a culture of peace. It is an activation of the Foundation's principles and a continuation of its mission to promote a just culture of peace."
From another perspective, the Office of the President of the Republic of Malta congratulated both the Foundation and the university of Malta on this achievement.
It is worth mentioning that the Abdulaziz Saud Albabtain Cultural Foundation is organizing the Second World Forum for the Culture of Peace in the Republic of Malta under the patronage of President George Vella. The Forum is scheduled to be held in March of the coming year under the theme "Leadership for Peace." It will be attended by a number of state leaders, university presidents, academics, and prominent figures.
