Albabtain Foundation: Following the Vision of His Highness the Amir to Promote a Culture of Peace

June 12, 2019

Abdulaziz Saud Albabtain, Chairman of the Abdulaziz Saud Albabtain Cultural Foundation in Kuwait, stated today that the World Forum for the Culture of Peace is a blessed initiative by His Highness the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Leader of Humanitarian Work, whose path and vision they follow.

In his speech during the Forum, Albabtain mentioned that this event is the culmination of the Foundation's initiatives under the banner of "Culture of Peace for the Security of Future Generations." These initiatives were presented in two consecutive sessions to the United Nations General Assembly with the aim of teaching the principles of a culture of just peace to students from nurseries to universities.

He noted that the Foundation presented a model curriculum during that time, which was unanimously approved and adopted. Alongside an international committee and experts, the Foundation developed these 17 curricula, based on the ideas presented to the United Nations General Assembly.

Mr. Albabtain highlighted the painful reality the world is facing, with destructive wars and fragile situations in numerous countries and communities, endangering social harmony and leading to deliberate and intentional destruction of human cultural heritage. He emphasized that the theme of the first session of this Forum is the teaching of a culture of peace and the protection of cultural heritage, especially in Iraq and Yemen.

The Forum also focused on the Central African Republic, aiming to teach a culture of peace due to significant violations of internal peace. Albabtain mentioned that the Foundation has conducted a series of workshops and seminars on intercultural dialogue and coexistence between religions in various countries around the world.

He pointed out that the 11th session of the Foundation was held in Kuwait in 2008, under the patronage of His Highness the Amir, focusing on the theme "Cultures and Interests" with two main axes: the conflict of interests and its impact on the global cultural scene, and the axis of intercultural dialogue as a way to resolve issues.

Albabtain emphasized that their highest goal is to establish the principles of dialogue and understanding among human cultures and different religions, aiming to end sectarian and racial conflicts, while upholding the values of justice, cooperation, and peace among the peoples of the world.

He called for efforts to eradicate the sources of terrorism and injustice, such as those faced by the Palestinian people, to bring about lasting peace in the world.
