The Supreme Committee of the Sultanate of Oman for Corporate Social Responsibility has decided to bestow upon the poet Abdulaziz Saud Albabtain the title of "United Nations Commissioner for Advocacy of the Sustainable Development Goals" for the year 2016 and to honor him with the Golden Award, in collaboration with the relevant United Nations program. This recognition is in appreciation of Albabtain's role in "national and international community service and responsibility programs," as stated in the rationale for the honor.

The ceremony took place in Salalah city under the presidency of Sheikha Aisha bint Khalafan Al Siyabiya, President of the General Authority for Craft Industries, during the academic session of the conference scheduled for 20th December 2016.
