The Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Center (JACC) has organized a seminar titled "The Cultural and Social Journey of the Poet Abdulaziz Saud Albabtain." The seminar took place on Sunday, January 8, 2017, at the Music Building in the Round Hall of the Center. The former minister, Dr. Rasheed Al-Hamad, presided over the seminar, and the former Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Abdullah Bishara, also participated.
The biography of poet Abdulaziz Saud Albabtain is marked with numerous Arab and international achievements. Through the Abdulaziz Saud Albabtain Cultural Foundation, he has organized literary sessions and dialogues on cultural exchange. Additionally, he has established several Arabic language chairs in universities worldwide and has been honored internationally at the highest levels. These and other activities have cemented his name among the influential figures in the global cultural scene.
Albabtain expressed his pride in the Jaber Al-Ahmad Center in his speech, emphasizing its significance as one of the most important cultural establishments in the region. He acknowledged the late Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah's continuous efforts to foster culture, elevate the cultural aspect, and strive for Kuwait to be a cultural hub.
He highlighted his personal commitment to the Arabic language and culture, noting that he established the "Saud Albabtain Kuwaiti Scholarship for Postgraduate Studies" in 1974, followed by the "Abdulaziz Saud Albabtain Poetry Creativity Award" in 1989, which later evolved into the "Abdulaziz Saud Albabtain Cultural Foundation."
On his part, Bishara praised Albabtain's efforts, his benevolence, and his dedication to his homeland, poetry, and culture. He remarked that Albabtain spoke on behalf of Kuwait in every gathering and across every continent he managed to reach.
The attendees of the seminar were captivated by Albabtain's rich biography, brimming with both Arab and international achievements. Recognized as a poet and prominent entrepreneur, he has been honored with numerous prestigious awards and holds 14 honorary doctoral degrees.
It's worth mentioning that this seminar is the second hosted by the center since its inauguration in October of the previous year, in the presence of His Highness the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad. This event marked the commencement of its cultural season, during which it welcomes a distinguished lineup of influencers from various intellectual, literary, and media domains. The season also serves as a platform for addressing significant cultural matters.
