February 27, 2017
The Chairman of the Foundation expressed his gratitude and appreciation to His Highness the Prime Minister, praising his interest in the cultural movement and his support for previous editions of the Arab Poetry Spring Festival. Albabtain emphasized that this significant support reflects the political leadership's awareness of the importance of culture as a key element in societal development.
Abdulaziz Saud Albabtain confirmed that the Festival will take place from the 26th of March and will last for three days. The Foundation has named this edition in honor of the Kuwaiti poet Ya'qoub Abdulaziz Al-Rasheed and the Jordanian poet Mustafa Wahbi Al-Tel (Arrar). The Festival will be held at the theater of Albabtain Central Library for Arab Poetry.
The Festival will be accompanied by a literary seminar about the two honored poets. Several specialists will discuss their lives and provide critical studies of their poetic works, which have left a valuable literary legacy worthy of study and exploration.
Albabtain mentioned that a constellation of Arab poets, both within Kuwait and beyond its borders, will participate in this festival. They will bring diverse poetic experiences, and the Foundation has emphasized generational diversity, allowing for a creative exchange between the young and veteran poets on a single platform. This integration of poetry aims to achieve its objectives in solidifying poetry as a linguistic, human, and emotional entity over the course of a decade.
