Recently, the book "Textual Engagement in the Poetry of Ya'qub Al-Rasheed" by the author Dr. Turki Al-Mughaid, a professor at the University of Kuwait, has been published. The book is published by the Abdulaziz Saud Albabtain Cultural Foundation and consists of 143 pages.
In the opening of the book, poet Abdulaziz Saud Albabtain states: "The author of the book 'Textual Engagement,' Dr. Turki Al-Mughaid, a professor of Arabic literature at Kuwait University, provides a comprehensive introduction to the concept of textual engagement and its underlying mechanisms, which include influence, implication, and generation. Additionally, he discusses its apparent mechanisms, such as quotation, embedding, and the invocation of characters. This is exemplified through selected poetry by Ya'qub Al-Rasheed, who was celebrated alongside the Jordanian poet Mustafa Wahbi Al-Til ('Arar') during the Spring Poetry Festival in its tenth season in March 2017."
The first chapter delves into the concealed textual engagement, defining it and elucidating its mechanisms—how Ya'qub Al-Rasheed engaged with other texts in a subtle manner. As for the second chapter, it explores the overt textual engagement in Ya'qub Al-Rasheed's work and elaborates on the methods employed to navigate it.
