Dr. Michael Frendo

Born on July 29, 1955.

Graduated from the Faculty of Law, Malta University in 1977.

Specialized in European Collective Law in 1978-1979 at the European Law Studies Center at Exter University in the United Kingdom.

Professional Experiences: 

Has been a member of the Maltese House of Representatives since 1987.

Minister of Foreign Affairs from 2004 to 2008.

Elected as the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Malta on April 29, 2010.

Served as Minister of Transport, Communications, and Technology in Malta from 1994 to 1996.

Appointed as Minister of Youth and the Arts from 1992 to 1994.

Appointed as the President of the European Organisation for the Safety of Air Navigation (EUROCONTROL).

Served as an observer member in the European Parliament from 2003 to 2004.

Member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe between 1987 and 1992.

Worked as a part-time professor at the Faculty of Law at the University of Malta, where they taught European law, communications law, and private international law.

His Publications include:

"The Future is Europe" (2003)

"Europe, The Case for Membership" (1996)

"Malta in the Council of Europe" (1990) 

"Malta in the European Community - Commercial and Legal Considerations" (1989)

In addition, he published numerous articles on legal issues related to information technology and communications.
