Dr. Abdullah Ahmed Al-Mahannah

Born in Kuwait in 1942.

Holds a Ph.D. in Classical Arabic Poetry from the University of Cambridge in the UK in 1975.

Worked as a professor in the Department of Arabic Language and Literature at Kuwait University and served as the department's chair in 1979.

Dean of the College of Arts, Kuwait University.


Served as a member of several academic bodies, including:

Member of the Board of Directors of the Higher Institute of Theatrical Arts from 1980 to 1990.

Member of the General Education Law Committee in 1987.

Member of the Board of Trustees of the Arab Center for Health Documents and Publications from 1984 to 1988.

Member of the "Creativity Committee" in the National Council for Culture, Arts, and Literature since 1993.

Editor-in-Chief of Al-Hasad Magazine in Literature and Language, published by the Departments of Arabic and English at Kuwait University.

Founder of the Arabic Manuscripts Library at Kuwait University in 1976.

Editor-in-Chief of the Arab Journal of Humanities from 1987 to 1989.

Editor-in-Chief of Alam Al-Fikr Magazine, 1992 - 1994.

Secretary-General of the Consultative Scientific Council to the University Director in 1985.

Advisor to the Abdulaziz Saud Albabtain Center for Dialogue of Civilizations since 2005.

He has authored numerous research papers and studies and contributed to the authorship of literary books, such as:

 "The Experience of Alienation in the Works of Nazik Al-Malaika" in 1985

"Iraqi Folktales" (co-authored) in 1993
