Dr. Abdullah Al-Mu’aiqil

Born in 1951 in Saudi Arabia.

Obtained Bachelor's degree in Arts and Language from King Saud University.

Holds a Master's and Ph.D. in Modern Arabic Literature from the University of Michigan in the United States.

Faculty member at the College of Arts, King Saud University in Riyadh.

Served as the Deputy Head of the Arabic Language Department at the College of Arts for four years.

Chaired the Arabic Editing Committee in the department for 3 years.

Member of the editorial board of the "Qawafil" journal published by the Literary Club.

Appointed to teach Saudi Arabian Literature at the University of Washington in Seattle, USA, in 1997.

He has a number of Literary and Cultural Research Papers and Lectures, including:

“Introduction to the Poem: A Study of the “Taf’eelah” Poetry in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia”

“Prose Poetry in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia”

“Modern Saudi Poetry”: A Study conducted for Abdulaziz Saud Albabtain Prize for Poetic Creativity

“Poetry and Enlightenment”: Presented at a Seminar organized by Abdulaziz Saud Albabtain Prize for Poetic Creativity 

“Selected Texts from Saudi Poetry”: Co-authored with Dr. Mansour Al-Hazmi and Dr. Abdullah Al-Ghathami, published in the book "Selections from Arabian Poetry in the Gulf and the Arab Peninsula"

Published several critical readings in the Cultural Supplement of Al Riyadh newspaper, as well as a series of articles on folk literature in Okaz newspaper.
